Nama Power Unveils Prequalified Applicants For Ibri III Solar IPP Project In Oman

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company has unveiled the prequalified applicants for the development of the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project, marking a significant step in Oman’s renewable energy ambitions. With a project capacity of 500 MW and an estimated investment of Omani Riyal 155 million, this initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to diversifying its energy resources to meet escalating electricity demands.
Nama Power and Water Procurement Company has unveiled the prequalified applicants for the development of the Ibri III Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project, marking a significant step in Oman’s renewable energy ambitions. With a project capacity of 500 MW and an estimated investment of Omani Riyal 155 million, this initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to diversifying its energy resources to meet escalating electricity demands.
Nama Power and Water Procurement Company received twelve submissions for qualification from both local and international developers. After a rigorous evaluation process, nine applicants have been conditionally or unconditionally prequalified. The prequalified developers include prominent entities from Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, South Korea, Singapore, France, and Japan.
The unconditionally prequalified and conditionally prequalified applicants are:
- Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar)
- ACWA Power
- Al Riyadh National Trading and Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO)
- Jinko Power
- Sembcorp Utilities
- TotalEnergies Renewables
- EDF Renouvelables and Korean Western Power (KOWEPO)
- International Power S.A. (Engie)
- Sumitomo Corporation
Nama Power and Water Procurement Company is now finalizing the Request for Proposals (RFP), which will soon be issued to the prequalified applicants pending relevant approvals. This marks the next phase in the development of Ibri III Solar IPP, building upon the success of previous projects such as Ibri II Solar IPP (operational since summer 2021) and Manah I Solar IPP and Manah II Solar IPP (currently under construction).
Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, Nama Power and Water Procurement Company continues to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Authority for Public Services Regulation to achieve Oman’s renewable energy targets. The Ibri III Solar IPP project represents a pivotal contribution towards enhancing Oman’s energy security and sustainability through innovative renewable energy solutions.
