The Sultanate of Oman is making significant strides in its renewable energy journey, with the Manah I Solar Power project as a prime example. This ambitious initiative, spearheaded by Wadi Noor Solar Power Company, is poised to become a cornerstone of Oman’s sustainable energy infrastructure.

A Massive Solar Installation

The Manah I project, located in the Wilayat of Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, will feature over 1 million solar photovoltaic (PV) modules spread across a vast area of 7.8 square kilometers. These high-efficiency modules, supplied by JA Solar, a global leader in the photovoltaic industry, are designed to maximize power generation.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Innovation

To optimize energy production, the PV modules will be mounted on single-axis trackers, allowing them to follow the sun’s movement throughout the day. Automated cleaning robots will ensure the panels remain efficient and maintain peak performance.

The project will also incorporate advanced grid connection technology, enabling the seamless integration of solar power into the national grid. The generated electricity will be transmitted via 400kV high-voltage cables to the local grid station operated by Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC).

A Commitment to Sustainability

Wadi Noor Solar Power Company is dedicated to promoting sustainability throughout the project. The company is prioritizing the use of locally sourced materials and services, aiming to achieve a minimum of 20% in-country value (ICV) during the construction phase. This approach not only supports the local economy but also reduces the project’s carbon footprint.

A Brighter Future for Oman

The Manah I Solar Power project represents a significant step forward in Oman’s renewable energy ambitions. Upon completion, it will contribute substantially to the country’s goal of diversifying its energy sources and reducing its reliance on fossil fuels. The project will also play a vital role in addressing the growing demand for electricity while promoting sustainable development.
