A significant milestone has been reached in Oman’s journey towards a cleaner energy future. Local electrical contractor Trade Links & Services (TLS) has successfully completed the construction of a brand new 400-kilovolt grid station in Manah, commissioned by Oman Electricity Transmission Company SAOC (OETC). This impressive feat marks a crucial step towards integrating renewable energy sources, particularly solar power, into the national grid.
The project, valued at over RO 13 million, represents a strategic investment in Oman’s energy infrastructure. The Manah grid station will act as the bridge, seamlessly transmitting clean electricity generated by the nearby Manah Solar I IPP and Manah Solar II IPP projects, currently under construction within the Wilayat of Manah. Once operational, these solar power plants will become a significant source of renewable energy for the country. By integrating their output into the OETC network, Oman can significantly increase its reliance on clean energy sources, reducing its dependence on traditional fossil fuel-based generation. This shift towards renewable energy not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also bolsters the nation’s energy security.
The newly constructed grid station isn’t an isolated entity. For efficient distribution of the solar-generated power, it connects seamlessly to existing infrastructure. High-voltage 400 KV double circuit transmission lines lead from the Manah station to Nahada and the new Izki grid station, ensuring a robust and well-connected network.
TLS deserves recognition for its exceptional work on this project. Leveraging their extensive experience in engineering, procurement, and construction services, they managed to complete the grid station within a tight timeframe of 20 months, adhering to all project deadlines. This accomplishment showcases their commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects efficiently.
“We are delighted to have contributed to the upgrade of the Oman Electricity Transmission Company’s network in a safe and timely manner,” said Hani Ali Mirza, Managing Director of Trade Links & Services. His statement further highlights the significance of the project. “The new grid station in Manah paves the way for the country’s shift to greener power generation and decarbonization. As one of Oman’s leading contractors, we aim to use our expertise and extensive experience to support projects that provide secure and cleaner energy for the future.”
The successful completion of the Manah grid station is a testament to Oman’s commitment to a sustainable future. This project serves as a stepping stone towards a cleaner energy landscape, one that relies less on fossil fuels and embraces the vast potential of renewable resources like solar power. With continued investment in such infrastructure projects and the dedication of companies like TLS, Oman is well on its way to achieving a brighter, more sustainable energy future.
