An Omani investor and a leading Chinese solar technology company, Q-SUN Solar, have formed a joint venture to establish a substantial solar photovoltaic (PV) cell and module production facility at Sohar Freezone. The planned 10-gigawatt (GW) solar plant is a significant step towards meeting the growing demand for solar energy in Oman and the broader Middle East region.
The project will encompass 8 GW of PV module manufacturing capacity and 2 GW of PV cell production, catering to both TOPCon and HJT technologies. The facility is expected to support Oman’s ambitious energy transition goals and contribute to the country’s burgeoning green hydrogen industry.
