Leaders in Oman highlight the role of Oman in the World Energy Transition
The Sultanate of Oman's trajectory toward a low carbon and green hydrogen economy shines with immense promise. Through steadfast dedication, we have forged agreements and secured over $30 billion in investments for pioneering projects. In this journey, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with esteemed global developers and investors, driven by a shared commitment to a sustainable, cleaner tomorrow. Collaboration becomes the cornerstone of our voyage, steering us toward the realization of a Net Zero world, where innovation and unity pave the way for a brighter future.
The remarkable progress made in record time of securing more than 50,000 square kilometers of land dedicated for clean hydrogen investments has set up a strong foundation for Oman’s green Hydrogen economy. Following a well-defined and transparent process, we have allocated lands in Duqm through the successful completion of the first bid round with more than 30 billion USD worth of investments, and we are currently active in the second bid round in Dhofar, Oman.
Oman is determined to build on this momentum and further progress this journey and continue playing a leading role leveraging on its strategic geographical location, political stability, strong infrastructural network, capable human capital, ease of doing business, and rich renewable energy resources – all key these factors transforming The Sultanate into one of the leading global hydrogen hubs.
Guided by our aspirations and empowered by strategic advantages, the Sultanate of Oman is poised, with the grace of Allah Almighty, to emerge as a premier global producer of green hydrogen by 2030. Our strategic vision aligns harmoniously with Oman Vision 2040, encompassing economic diversification, the advancement of renewable energy, and a resolute commitment to carbon emissions reductions on our path towards carbon neutrality by 2050. The momentum behind our newly announced projects and comprehensive hydrogen initiatives stands as a testament to both the allure of our investment landscape and our steadfast dedication to establishing Oman as a leading hydrogen hub.
Oman is an oil and gas producer that is taking an enlightened approach to its energy future, with a clear long-term vision and strong net zero ambitions. Renewable hydrogen is set to bring multiple benefits to Oman.
